Overview

Solar water heaters harness solar heat energy to produce hot water. Typically, a conventional solar water heater consists of a solar collector positioned on a building’s roof, connected to a water-storage tank. The system enables unheated water to flow from the tank through the collector, undergoing direct heating, or it may be heated by a high-capacity heat-exchange fluid. This fluid, heated within the collector, transfers warmth through tubes immersed in the water within the tank. While passive methods can facilitate heat transfer without mechanical assistance, “active” solar hot water systems employ electricity to circulate the heat-exchange fluid and operate mechanical pumps and controllers.

How It Works?!

The collector panel, an integral element of the solar water heating system, receives the Sun’s rays. Within the collectors, a dark-absorbing surface (absorber) absorbs solar radiation and conveys the resulting heat energy to the flowing water. The warmed water is then gathered in an insulated tank to prevent any loss of heat.
